CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) — Families looking for more affordable housing now have another option in Chattanooga.
Congressman Chuck Fleischmann and the executive director of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency were on hand for the grand opening of the Alton Place Apartments.
Tax credits were used to build the 88-unit complex so that living costs could be kept down for lower income households.
The owners say housing is important to job growth.
"With jobs the way they are, and with housing being here close to the jobs, I think that’ll be very important in the future," says David Hayes, co-owner of Alton Place.
The complex includes a gated entrance, swimming pool, fitness center and high energy efficiency.
A family of four, living on less than $34,800, can rent a two bedroom unit for less than $550 per month.
